DATE WITHOUT DATE

                                                 By Usama Rasheed

Some people might wait for 14th Febuary (Valentine’s Day) to arrange dating on special locations. But, if you talk about Karachi University, you can find several dates on different places.
Gone are the days when ‘Prem Gali’ (P.G.) was specifically characterized as a dating point in Karachi University. Now, you can find student couples or even outsiders, whose dating point could be shade of a tree, departments’ stairs, or even places you have never come across. Even couples don’t spare libraries; as I myself witnessed one incident at Mehmood Hussain Library, and sorry to say, it was the holy month of Ramadan. Two ‘Love Birds’ were constantly looking into each others’ eyes, like they were in heaven (Langoor ko mil gai Hoor), and it seemed as if people in the surrounding were invisible to them.
One place I would like to mention is Food Science Juice Centre, where the romantic environment is more fascinating. Dating while having a date shake .. Wow :)
But unfortunately for these love idols, there is a student political party who is always keeping an eye on them (Zalim Samaj!). And if they see a guy holding a girl’s hand (Phirrrr toh khair nahi). Lol!
France is said to be the most romantic place on earth. But I would suggest you to visit K.U. and I am sure that you would say that it is Karachi University where love is actually in the air. ;)
I don’t want to comment on whatever they are doing is good or bad. But, education is the basic criterion of the university and it has to be fulfilled by students, since, mostly parents bear educational expenses and they want their children to excel. So, decide yourself, whether you want to be Romeo/Juliet or Jinnah/Helen Keller…………..

  4. I would say that you have pointed out a very important issue by showing your randomness. But i suppose that there could be no more dates as we are studying under the lobby system of political parties. I think parties have this only right act that they are always curious to catch up love birds. I am with them. I dont understand the psychology of people when it comes to love. Very well written blogpost. And yes i believe that dating in karachi university had been lowered to a higher extent as per my experiences of knowing such love birds :D :P

  19. yr its all upto you....
for example if a brother and sister sit and talk each other how can u say that they r dating, similarly if two cousins sitting and talking each other or studying how can you say that they are dating here. "kisi ke dil ka haal kaun bata skta hai". If any 1 is dating and doing some thing then whts wrong in it kam se kam suicidal attack tu nahi kr rha. Doing Love is not bad....
as compare doing wrong things. Plz dont make things vulgar......

  22. The attraction between the opposite sex is the most natural thing there can be . Even our religion realizes that such attraction is inevitable and hence the commandment of veil for women and lowering of gaze for both men and women. From a strictly religious point of view dating is off limits. But lets face it. Religion is not the strongest driving force in our lives or societies these days .... not anymore. Now looking away from the religion dating and that too on campus for the sake of it is extremely wrong. It takes up time, energy and money and eventually ends up with someone getting hurt. But I do feel if u meet someone and u feel a connection with them, it can be the most amazing experience. There is nothing wrong with liking someone and pursuing a relationship in all seriousness and may be the stakeholders (parents etc) could b taken into confidence. The stakeholders on the other should try to be more understanding which can prevent disasters. But like the author said "education is the basic criterion of the university", there should be no compromise on education.
