I belong to…

If you start walking towards my department from the silver jubilee gate, from the muskun gate or from the sheikh zayed gate might be your shoes or slippers would be broken/torn up... I am saying this because the department is actually so far that the same thing had happened to me and to my others fellows also when we first came here to submit our admission fees after getting admission. Just feel those emotions which a person get into his/her heart if something like this happens but can’t do any thing rather than accepting it as the first gift from Karachi University J

But in spite of this very first bad experience I will say that I belong to such a nicest department that I feel myself to be a lucky girl.. Really!! As I belong to that department, which has a great scope in the world these days.

Let’s have a look of it.. The new building of my department was built about two years and three months ago and is really a good piece of architecture. If you enter in the building you can see a big hall in the center, by stepping forward to the right hand there is a notice board for evening students while on the right side there is for the morning students. Moving on the same right hand you can see a corridor with classrooms on both sides. On the other hand of it there is boy’s washroom, where most of them go in hurry just after entering the building as to mark attendance there.. Moving forward is the girl’s one and the same case with them also. Then there are stairs and just beside them we have our Photostat shop, which is always crowded by us and by the students of UBIT (they don’t have their own actually). Some chataiyees are also there used for offering prayers. Move a little more forward and you can see the backdoor of the department making you to feel that you have completed the half circle of your journey.

Then there are stairs again and a small canteen beside and a sofa of black color and just beside it there is another corridor where we have our office and rooms of our chairperson and other teachers.

Now let’s go upstairs.. On the left side again there is a corridor where we have our computer lab, audio visual lab, news lab and radio station of our own FM 90.6. On the right side’s corridor there are some class rooms, G.C.R (girl’s common room), offices of some teachers. Our seminar library, the coolest place of the department is also on the right hand beside the corridor. And yes you can also see different charts pasted on the walls like no smoking, quaid ka Pakistan kahan hai etc with some stickers pasted too like qoum ki beti ko riha karo, bijli bachaye etc

I must mention here that there are some problems too like unavailability of fans in the hall, the roof of the hall leaks as it rains, sometimes there is no water to drink or for wazoo even but keeping all these things aside the main point is the positive purposes of the department that is to provide quality education to the students, through theory classes, seminars, workshops etc and this is the most important thing for me. That is why I feel happy and proud that I belong to this department, I belong to a place where I can gain something good and purposeful…YES I belong to DR. FEROZ AHMED INSTITUTE OF MASS COMMUNICATION.
